How many pieces are in one kilogram of stock-lot clothing?

A practical guide to estimating pieces per kilo for T-shirts, dresses, jeans and jackets when you buy clothing by weight.

When you buy clothing by the kilogram, the most important number for your profit is how many pieces you get per kilo. It depends almost entirely on the category and the season.

Light items give more pieces

Summer items made from thin fabric — camisoles, tank tops, T-shirts, shorts, light dresses — are light, so one kilo contains many pieces. Heavy items such as jeans, hoodies, sweaters and jackets give far fewer pieces per kilo.

How to estimate your cost per piece

  1. Ask the supplier for the estimated pieces per kilo of the lot.
  2. Divide the price per kilo by that number to get your cost per piece before shipping.
  3. Add freight and duties per kilo, then divide again by pieces per kilo.

For example: a lot at a price of P per kilo with about 5 pieces per kilo costs roughly P ÷ 5 per piece, plus shipping.

Always check on video

Because stock lots are mixed bales with no picking, ask for an opening video of the actual lot. At Bulk Clothing Hub every lot has an ID, and we film the weighing and packing before you pay the balance.
